Dear Mom and Dad,

Congratulations! You are now the grandparents of two beautiful baby girls. I’d like to say you’re the two proud grandparents of my girls, but since you’re not proud of me, I don’t want to assume you’d be proud of my daughters either.

I gave birth to our first about five weeks ago and then my wife gave birth to our younger daughter just last week. As you can imagine, we’ve got our hands full. I’m happy to report that everyone is healthy and happy.

In case you were wondering, we used the same donor for both children. He is one of our best friends and he’ll definitely play a role in our girls’ lives. He’s smart, handsome, very funny, and probably the kind of guy that you wished I would have ended up marrying. But we all know that things don’t always work out the way we plan them. In case you were wondering, yes, he is also gay, but I don’t want you to worry...I’m pretty sure it’s not genetic.

I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again that my door is always open to you. I’d love to give you the opportunity to be in my life again. I sincerely want to reconcile with you, rebuild our relationship, and give your granddaughters the family they deserve. As any good parent would do, I am putting the needs of my children first and am keeping an open mind.

If you decide you want to be grandparents and get to know my girls, I would like that. You can call me whenever. My number hasn’t changed.
